Got Kimono? Go Free! Mar 12 2005

Forget "I Love New Tokyo", the real pride campaign this month is happening in Kyoto.

This week, in a bid to promote tradition in the city, Kyoto is letting kimono wearers take public transport and enter museums for free. For those capable of putting one on (rather more challenging than a dressing gown) you can spend days jetting around the city taking in the 20 venues supporting the scheme for nothing. Down with Louis Vuitton, long live the kimono!
